What are tricot fabrics?
Tricot is the French name for knitted fabrics, and is generally also used as a collective name for knitted fabrics. Because tricot fabric is knitted, it is stretchable. Elastic yarns such as elastane, also known as Lycra, are often knitted into tricot fabrics. A jersey without elastane runs the risk of smudging. A jersey with elastane does not have this risk and will retain its shape nicely. Our tricot fabrics are available in different variants and compositions.
We offer our jerseys in many uni colors and patterns, such as: stripes, dots, animal prints, floral prints & checks. Our tricot fabrics are almost all made of cotton and elastane. Cotton makes it sturdy, the addition of elastane makes the fabric stretchy. Are you looking for a knitted fabric with viscose and elastane? Then you can view our jerseys.
Properties of tricot fabric
A characteristic of tricot fabrics is that it usually feels soft and is comfortable to wear. The important properties of tricot fabrics are:
- Tricot feels soft;
- Tricot is strong and tear-free;
- Stockinette fabric is stretchy;
For optimum retention of quality, we recommend washing the jersey at a maximum temperature of 40 degrees. We do not recommend drying tricot fabrics in a tumble dryer. For ironing a jersey, we recommend a maximum ironing plate temperature of 130 ° C without steam. Please note: steam ironing can cause irreversible damage.
