What is Chiffon?

Chiffon is a very light, transparent woven fabric with a soft, flowing drape. It is made with twisted crêpe yarns, which give the surface a slightly grainy texture and a more matte appearance. Chiffon is often used for elegant, layered garments because it moves beautifully and creates a delicate, airy effect.

Care Instructions

Hand wash at 30°C or use a delicate programme. Do not wring. Hang to dry on a drying rack. Iron on the inside at a low temperature, using the silk setting.

Practical Tip

Chiffon and voile can be difficult to sew because of their smooth surface. Use fine needles, size 70–80, sew slowly and place silk paper or tissue paper under the fabric to prevent the sewing machine from pulling the fabric in.
